Tourism PEI Funding Programs

The Product Development Fund provides non-repayable contributions to assist in the research, development and market launch of new PEI tourism products. A primary objective of the Product Development Fund is to support the “Prince Edward Island Strategy for Tourism Competitiveness.” Projects supported by the Fund will relate directly to the development or enhancement of products identified in the Strategy. Projects supported by the Product Development Fund are intended to strengthen Prince Edward Island’s appeal as a destination. The Acadian and Francophone Tourism Development Fund is a financial assistance program for the promotion and development of the Acadian and Francophone tourism product on P.E.I. was made possible through the Canada-Prince Edward Island General Agreement on the Promotion of Official Languages. All promotion and development projects shall be accompanied by a detailed plan of action on the measures to be taken and an evaluation plan.  To download more information and a printable application form click here.

New!  The Tourism Website French Translation Support Program provides non-repayable contributions toward website French translation services for operators providing services to Francophone visitors on PEI. This will increase the web presence of tourism products and services available in French on PEI.

Festivals and Events Assistance Program provides assistance to annual festivals and events that are widely marketed and well organized.  A "festival or event" is an on-going annual activity which promotes tourism by attracting visitors to the Island and encourages their participation in such activities. The festival or event must clearly and specifically target off-Island participants and spectators. It must have a broader appeal than just Island residents and participants. The Festival/Event should reflect a quality PEI cultural experience and be environmentally sensitive. 
Note:    Regional, national and international one-time events which have the potential of a major impact in bringing visitors to PEI, but do not fall within the conditions of this program, may meet the criteria of the Product Development Fund.
